faith like a child

A conversation between me and my 3 year old daughter recently:

Me: God loves you so much.

Her: Yeah, He* wants to give me a hug.

Me: Jesus loves you so much, too.**

Her: Yeah, and I want to give Jesus a hug.  I love Him so much.  I want to be with Jesus, Daddy.  I miss Him.  Why can’t I be with Him?

She then nuzzles into me, acting quite sad.  [She got over it.]

*She probably doesn’t know most people think it’s respectful to capitalize when referring to God in pronouns (usually masculine because there isn’t an option that makes everyone happy.  But that’s for another post.)

**I haven’t decided to get into Trinitarian theology with her quite yet.  Next year.
