Killer quote from @ShaneClaiborne

Last year at Christmas, @ShaneClaiborne posted a blog called “A Season for Mischief and Conspiracy: A New Take on Christmas Charity” that is well worth reading.  He tweeted this to peak your interest: “It was the Christ-child who said, ‘When you give, do it in secret … don’t even let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.”

Ironic how Jesus instructs us to give gifts in secret and then the season celebrating His birth gets taken over by over-the-top spending on presents.  Don’t get me wrong!  There’s nothing wrong with putting the tag on a gift to let someone know you love them to pieces.  But it does give us something to consider practicing a bit more.  WHAT IF we started anonymously giving gifts to people, in addition to what we already give?  I know that I’m guilty of slapping my name on something so that I get proper credit!

Consider giving to a charity that brings hope to people around the world this year, like or  Donate it in someone’s name and give them an information package along with the receipt.  They don’t really need that stuffed animal or the gadget that will break in two months, right?

(Let’s not get crazy here and think that Brian thinks of himself as super high and mighty.  I still want an iPad 17 like everyone else!)

Well Brian I got you this $500 gift card to Chipolte. I figured it would last you a month. But because of this post you’ve I spired me to give it to someone else in secret. Thanks for the idea! 😉

    Love the post!
