Did you just start frothing at the mouth? If so, then maybe you need to read this post. I’m not trying to be arrogant here. If the issue of gun control instantly sends you into a feeding frenzy of chomping teeth that ends up manducating anyone in your way, then maybe you need to reevaluate why gun control is so important to you.
@JesusOfNaz316 once said that “The Son of Man doesn’t want to take away your right to own a gun. He wants to take away your desire to shoot people.”
To me, that’s what it boils down to when it comes to following Jesus and owning guns. Does Jesus want you to own a gun? Well…I guess it depends on what your ultimate motivation ends up being when you pull that trigger.
Is making sure people who end up owning guns are responsible all that bad? That’s what I don’t get. It seems like simply asking this question sends people into a rage that makes me hope they aren’t currently armed when I talk to them.
Instead of getting mad at a potential American right being taken from you, get mad at something bigger than your rights. Get angry at the existence of human trafficking. Get pissed that children go unprotected from abusive parents. Get so mad at the injustices in the world that you forget about whether your “right” to have a gun is something that Jesus the Crucified even cares about.
